The Military Property and Installations Office is charged with real property and facilities maintenance as well as repair responsibilities, new construction, real property management, and environmental management and compliance. This is accomplished through the management of three distinct budgets and a workforce comprised of state and federally supported state employees and federal employees. The office manages over 800,000 square feet of buildings and over 14,000 acres of land in 30 separate locations throughout the state.
Mission Statement of the State of Vermont Military Procurement and Installations Office (MPIO)
- Plan, construct, operate, and maintain the logistical, maintenance, and administrative facilities in support of the Army and National Guard in Vermont.
- Provide land area and facilities to insure units and individuals can meet and maintain pre-mobilization training standards established by the National Guard Bureau and the Department of the Army.
- Provide hazardous waste management, hazardous waste minimization, safe drinking water, and recycling services to the Vermont Army National Guard.
- Provide land management activities to ensure adequate training areas for the future, as well as conservation of the natural resources on those training lands.
