This office has the management and functional responsibility for the Army National guard Environmental Program. This includes hazardous waste management, spill control management, safe drinking water, hazardous waste minimization, natural resources management, and cultural resources management. The recycling program has reduced significant volumes of several different waste streams from being disposed of in landfills. This program includes office paper, cardboard, wood, metals, and batteries of all types. The cost in manpower and dollars to manage and work these programs continues to increase and reduce limited budget dollars for maintenance activities. In addition, several aqueous parts washers have been purchased and installed to replace solvent based systems in the maintenance shops. This has had a very positive effect on reducing the hazardous waste stream.
